BLIZZARD in East Tennessee!!

Well, it is for us!!  January 29. 2010, it started snowing about 11:00 AM and by dark, we had about 6 inches!!  Of course, we made our run to the store for milk, bread and Little Debbies, sandwich meat, "caught up water" - in case the power went off, got all the clothes washed, dried and folded, had fresh batteries on standby, and made sure everyone had extra quilts handy, if they got cold during the night...well, it's now after noon on January 30th and we haven't lost power, yet!  It started raining last night and now, we still have snow on the ground, and it's a whole lot messier, but with ham sandwiches, honey buns for dessert, clean clothes, and new batteries, (just in case), what more do you need???

ONE WORLD ONE HEART GIVEAWAY...Fun for ALL!!

I can't believe that it's been a year, but the time has come for another "ONE WORLD ONE HEART" giveaway!  This wonderful event is promoted to help fellow bloggers connect and it's a FUN way to meet friends and associates that share the same hobbies, ideas and interests!! 
You can see that my blog reflects life here at our farm, "AWESOME ASS ACRES".  The namesake of our farm and my studio (MagicalMuleFolkArt) is our sweet, smart, spotted Appaloosa mule, King Solomon.  We've raised him from birth and show him throughout the southeast.  My art is inspired by Solomon, along with the many other farm animals (chickens, guineas, peafowl, horses, mules, sheep, goats, dogs and cats) here AND by frequent visits by wildlife...deer, fox, raccoon, oppossum, coyote, skunk... 

My giveaway item is a handpainted wooden sign, with a sheep on the front.  It will come ready to hang with a piece of latigo on back!

The creator of this idea is, Lisa Swifka, of "A Whimsical Bohemian"...she started the event in 2007 and now, the participation is global!  My first year to participate was 2009 and I've met some wonderful on-line friends through the process!  To join our "Magic Carpet" ride, just follow the easy steps below...

FALL GIVEAWAY! COMMENT TO WIN!!

There's so many bloggers that offer items to be given away during certain times of the year...so I've decided to jump on the mule wagon!!  As my blog sometimes mention, we have a good size garden every year, here at AWESOME ASS ACRES.  We freeze, can, sell, give away vegetables, throughout the growing season and enjoy the process of it all.  Our favorite canned item is, by far, my red sweet pickles.  I've been using this recipe for about 20 years and it's ALWAYS a favorite of anyone that likes sweet pickles.  They're sooooo good with any kind of meat dish and are a pretty addition to any meal!  Crispy, sweet, would remind you of candied apples at the fair!

I will be giving away a pint jar full of these delicious, sweet, crispy pickles + the hard to find recipe!

One World-One Heart GiveAway!

As you all can probably tell, I'm very new to "blogging" and I'm not the greatest at keeping up with all the ideas behind this wonderful concept. However, after reading other's blogs and seeing how this tool helps bring so many folks together, I've decided to try a giveaway that's part of an idea belonging to Lisa Swifka, of A Whimsical Bohemian. This is a worldwide event and is set up to help bloggers share their stories and ideas with people they know and people they meet through this endeavor. I've always wanted to try a giveaway, so I felt that now was a good time!!

My giveaway item is a handpainted natural slate wall hanging. On the front, is a spray of roses and baby's breath. It measures 5" x 7" and hangs with a piece of latigo. It'd be great to add a little color to any setting!
